MDC INTENSIFIES STUDENTS RECRUITMENT

THE MOVEVEMENT for Democratic Change led by Professor Welshman Ncube has stepped up its preparations for the 2018 presidential election as they have embarked on a drive to form party structures in every university nationwide.

On Tuesday the MDC Bulawayo executive led by National Organizer Mr. Sheppard Dube and Provincial Chairperson Walter Sebele set up a 20 member branch structure at the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) and at Lupane State University respectively.

In an interview, Mr Dube said, “the struggle for a Fair and Just Zimbabwe requires leaders that will not abandon principle hence it is imperative to assume base at these  tertiary institutions as they have demonstrated such a capacity and zeal to see the country reclaiming its bread basket status in the region. Tertiary institutions will form the base of “think tanks” in the party as we interrogate policy issues.”

He also added that it was of essence to have such structures as they were a good start to assist the analysis of events that would be used to draw from to collect wisdom of solid political analysis.

“The MDC Youth assembly is in the process of radicalization and intellectualization. If you follow recent activities you will understand that there has been a shift of character. When someone called the party a “junk yard” who was swift to react, rebuke and respond to her? This is a firm indicator of where we are going.

Addressing students at Nust, Mr. Sebele said, “We are in the process of rebuilding our once vibrant Zimbabwe which has been torn into pieces by the current greedy leadership of Robert Mugabe and his cronies. This is the regime that has destroyed every infrastructure, and has been busy squandering the little resources that we have.”

This is the time for us as students to revisit the spirit of 1999 that saw the students teaming up with the civic union and the trade unionists to form the Movement For democratic Change in a bid to advocate for the rights of the people of Zimbabwe including the students, however recent political developments characterized by intimidation and bribery has seen the students loosing voice as they have been enslaved by the same monstrous Zanu Pf regime.
